Recommended Books for Drawing

Drawing with an Open Mind by Ted Seth Jacobs
Need some inspiration for your figure drawings? This book will do it!

How to Draw the Human Figure, An Anatomical Approach by Louise Gordon
This book a great reference guide. It’s a required text book in my college-credit figure drawing class. If you have insomnia, I recommendthis for bedtime reading (you'll fall asleep). But, again, its an invaluable visual reference.

Keys to Drawing by Bert Dodson
My favorite all-around how-to drawing textbook. I recommend this to all my drawing classes: credit and non-credit programs.

The Natural Way to Draw by Nicolaides
A fundamental guide for self-study and teaching.

The Undressed Art: Why We Draw by Peter Steinhart
This is a favorite of some of our Bay Area models (guild).
