Page 118: Soldering a Pendant
by Iris Sandkühler
"Iris Sandkühler is a highly skilled jewelry artist and the Director of e-Learning for www.beadshop.com. This two-toned necklace, designed and constructed by Iris, mixes sterling metal plate with gold-filled wire. She used a series of Basic Eye components linked together for her chain and then completed the chain with a larger Basic Eye and a Basic Hook. On the pendant, Iris soldered curls of wire, similar to a Curly Headpin, onto a round piece of sterling plate. To attach the chain to the pendant, she pierced the plate and used a variation of the Curly Headpin and Wrapped Loop technique. As a final accent, Iris has an additional curly component piece secured to the bottom of her pendant." |
